For over seventy years, Crestan has applied the fundamental principles of the art of furniture-making: the techniques is tradition where knowledge of the wood, the real solid wood of walnut, and great dexterity create original pieces of high quality furniture which due to their characteristics can furnish many different houses, including modern ones. The furniture we produce is linked to different periods in the history of furniture and is the result of artisan creativity which can be said to be almost an art.
In the eighteen hundreds, Italian furniture, like its French counterparts, began to decrease in size, be decorated more simply, to be more practical and functional. Walnut come back into fashion and lighter coloured woods began to be used, delicately decorated with inlay. The ‘800 Emiliano furniture is elegant and romantic; it brings to mind the idyllic settings of the old farmhouses. A collection dedicated to bedrooms which, thanks to its curved lines and delicate decorations, creates very poetic setting which perfectly balances the need for rest and sleep. The ‘800 Emiliano collection consist of very valuable pieces, made of high quality raw materials by highly skilled craftsmen. The drawers have dove-tail joints and can be locked with keys. The collection is enhanced by a 2 mm. Sheet, hand-sanded as required by the most noble and old tradition. The 1,5 cm backs are made of fir and the drawers are fully lined whit Varese paper. The beds have either all wood heads or heads with wrought iron parts enriched with a hand-painted medallion showing different elegant, serene and idylli subjects. The quality of this collection can also be seen in its finisching, exclusively performed by hand, involving thirteen different stages and using natural water dyes, shellac and bees wax.
